A vacancy now exists in the Finance Department for an experienced Cost Accountant. With a primary reporting role to the VP of Operations and a secondary reporting role to the Financial Controller this role requires someone who can work autonomously in a fast paced environment.
Your duties will include:
Developing and administering cost control systems and provide management with information on job or project costs.
Assisting in controlling annual expenditures through the use of a master budget and streamline the data processing support required during month-end.
Developing, analysing, and interpreting statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget to determine the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organisation.
Preparing reports to outline the company’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations by product line.
Through establishing a master budget for operations analysing labour, material, manufacturing overhead and sales costs to determine cost standards. Establishing absorption rates and compiling periodic statements of actual costs versus budgeted and absorbed costs.
Supporting manufacturing operations in inventory management, including items set up
and system controls.
Assessing current and upcoming financial plans, policies and recommend changes to expand company profitability.
Interfacing with Accounting, Financial, and Production Management regarding analysis of manufacturing methods and work processes for maximum cost efficiency.
Analysing pricing decisions, product profitability decisions, and cost management.
Establishing performance measurement, including margin and profitability analysis by product line.
Reviewing, analysing, and reporting to management cost variances such as spending, efficiency, production, volume and under- or over-allocated overhead.
As a suitable candidate for this position, you will be an ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified accountant, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in an similar role in the manufacturing industry (management accounting) Experience of Oracle, although not essential, would also be an advantage. You will be a highly motivated, self starter capable of working on your won initiative.
